My name is Katie and I am a person-centred therapist. This means that you are at the heart of what I do, our sessions are all about you; my client. No two people are the same, our lives are unique to us and we are moulded by our experiences. That is why your counselling will be unique to you as an individual. Together we will explore your thoughts and feelings whilst developing greater self awareness, resilience and inner peace.
I have a degree in Applied Social Science and a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapy with a full DBS check and am trained in safeguarding. Covid changed the way everyone worked so I undertook extensive training with ACTO to enable me to provide remote counselling via platforms such as Zoom. Online practice has continued beyond Covid due to its effectiveness.
My background is in education, having worked in schools for nearly ten years. During my training and beyond I volunteered for a counselling service that offers support to families and schools across Leeds. Alongside this I have also supported student mental health at a local college. More recently in conjunction with my practice I worked for Bradford Bereavement Services on their Covid Bereavement Pathway.
I continually undertake training to enhance my knowledge and keep learning. Whilst I believe in all the training, knowledge, and skills I bring into the counselling room the most encouraging feedback I receive is from my clients, and that is, that they feel heard and understood.
